Aesthetic Restoration: Technical Solutions For Every Clinical Case

Learning from the past and making new discoveries is something we are rarely aware of in our daily work.

The techniques and materials developed by our predecessors are of great significance even in this age of digital technology.

In the 40 years that I have been involved in dental technology, I have mainly worked with porcelain. In particular, I have been involved in the production of laminate veneers since the technique was first introduced to Japan. Compared to PFM crown restorations, which were at the height of their popularity at the time, it is necessary to take into consideration the influence of the color tone of the abutment tooth, and the final color tone cannot be confirmed until the crown is installed.

In other words, experience, intuition, and image are the most important factors in the crafting process, but this is also what makes it so interesting.

Today, PFZ and FCZ have become more mainstream than PFM, and the color tone of the abutment tooth must again be taken into consideration. Of course, each company has developed materials that control light transmission, reflection, and shielding.

In this conference, I would like to explain what I pay attention to and which techniques I apply when I am asked to fabricate crowns and laminate veneers.
